Apparently, the best way to have mass media coverage in a small country like our’s is to publicly talk nonsense or even have a completely biased opinion, expressed using democracy as a shield. Once in a blue moon, the leader of the political party FSM, Mr Cehl Meeah comes to the front of the local political arena to do so. This time, it’s a blatant affirmation about how women have no right to be involved in politics.
Two days ago, during a political meeting at Vallée Pitot, the leader of the FSM, Cehl Meeah indirectly expressed his inner thought and core belief which has been haunting him since years: “Les femmes n’ont pas leur place en politique“.
While we fully understand that opinion differs in our peaceful democratic country, Mr Meeah seems to forget that he is doing politics in the Republic of Mauritius, and not some: Somalia or Afghanistan or even Iran where Islamic laws and belief take precedence over any other laws.
Obviously after this great announcement by Mr Meeah, reactions and protests against the same have been showering all around the country. Nice way to get public and media attention, well, at least better than Room 216.
