Ramgoolam Uses Aggression 'Opposition Is Illiterate'

Prime Minister Dr Navin Ramgoolam called the opposition ‘economically illiterate’ since they are unaware of the global economic situation. He was speaking on the budgetary debate in parliament on Friday where all members of the Opposition were absent.

Let us remind Ramgoolam, please stop using insulting words. The meaning of illeratate, it describes a person  who can not read or write. Former Members of parliment such as the late Sookdeo Bissoondoyal and his brother  Professor Basdeo Bissoondoyal worked hard to educate the Mauritan people regardless of cast and religion, Can you compare your self?

Sookdeo Bissoondoyal walked to and from parliament, he said "I do not want a car, If I can own a car every man in Mauritius should be able to afford one".  Do you believe in the same ethics Ramgoolam? Aston Martins, Maceerenaa, Ritz of London what more do you want to stun us with.

Ramgoolam has got into the habit of insulting misfortnate people by the way he misleads his people. He mentioned in parliment of dishing out tablets so there is no digital divide. Should we remind Ramgoolam about his failed promises in accordance to digital divide, 'Mauritius is going to be the first WIFI HUB in the world'. We haven't forgotten Ramgoolam we know now you will never deliver your promises to the people who need it.

Who Wants Mohamed No Thank You

The minister of Labour, Industrial Relations and Employment Shakeel Mohamed admitted he was wrong when he joined the Mouvement Socialiste Militant (MSM). “I made a blunder when I joined the MSM and refused to listen to the advice of my father Yousuf Mohamed,” said Mohamed. But the majority of Mauritians would rather not have a father and son Arms dealer within Parliment anyway. There has been reports that links  his brother and farther   Yousuf Mohamed and Zakir Mohamed to supply arms to war zones.

Mauritius is indeed a strategic spot due to its location and it could very well serve as a gateway in the whole arms trafficking business between Africa, Asia and the Middle East. Moreover, tax incentives, drop-box addresses and offshore banking are the additional benefits which the dealers had their eyes on. Kathi Lynn Austin, executive director of the “Conflict Awareness Project”  who led the whole investigation ,revealed that Kosolapov wanted to copy the strategies of Victor Bout to set up an empire by fraudulently acquiring an Air Operation Certificate (AOC)from the Mauritius government.

This certificate is required for planes to take off and in order to obtain it they sought partnership with a local aviation company “Island Air System Ltd”,  the Chief  Executive Officer of which is Zakir Mohamed.
Yousuf Mohamed was supposedly the legal adviser and Shakeel Mohamed being part of the government was an added advantage. Austin further explained that they actually operated with multiple layers, shell companies and holding companies with offshore bank accounts in order to facilitate their network.
Milan Meetarbhan, the Mauritius Ambassador to the United Nations, confirmed in a letter to Austin that, a request for an AOC as mentioned in the report, was declined twice by the Mauritian government and reaffirmed all the country’s efforts to fight against trafficking of all kinds. The acquisition of an AOC is hard in Mauritius. Before it is granted, the Department of Civil Aviation carries out a thorough investigation. Something fishy must have been detected in the documents submitted for the application of the AOC, which eventually led to a rejection by the Mauritian authorities.
The local partners mentioned in the report were fast to deny the allegations of Austin. According to them, the plan was to set up an aviation company which would facilitate traveling to and from islands in the region and not to transfer arms from one part of the world to another. Shakeel Mohamed, who has been linked to this whole issue, stated that he does not know “those Russians” and has never interacted with any of them. The Minister also added that Kathi Lynn Austin has mentioned his name to make the news more sensational.
He made it clear that he cannot be guilty by association. Austin has soiled the reputation of his family and he is going to initiate legal proceedings both in Mauritius and abroad against her. For him the report holds little significance. He stated that there exist several NGOs like the “Conflict Awareness Project” across the globe and that the report was not prepared by a trusted source like the United Nations.
The whole controversy has left the people of Mauritius Disgusted as this potentially could bring the ARMS in the wrong hands.

Please Navin Do Not Sell our Coastal Road and Public Beach

The Stolen Beach "Trou aux Biches"
The Residents of Mon-Choisy Challenge Ramgoolams Government "Please don't sell our coastal road" the proposed road diversion is actually a privatization  of the public beach" - for nearly 2 years locals have challenged the decision. The case lodged at court by the inhabitants of Mon-Choisy arguing that this road is not on the original plans of the company. SAJ Promises Prison for NavRamGools!

Speaking  at a conference yesterday Night, the reconstitute of MMM / MSM at Ollier Avenue, Belle Rose, Quatre-Bornes - the municipal elections proposals of December 9 , Sir Anerood Jugnauth critised the  Prime Minister Ramgoolam. Implementing that the government is responsible for Navin Ramgoolam and his many scandals that have grabbed headlines for some time, the former President has promised investigations and "prison" for the head of government since the alliance MMM / MSM will rise to power.

SAJ also accuses the Prime Minister, among others, "Squandering  the land of the State distributing to his relatives and other agents" SAJ also said "I do not pity the PM as he has sucked the blood out of his citizens" and many would agree. So many scandals from drug trafficking to pedophilia. SAJ also mentioned that Ramgoolam will have to explain to the people of  Mauritius why he has misled the country for so long and he will be doing prison, the people of Mauritius will surely welcome SAJ's proposals.

SAJ is Welcomed Back in Town

The Remake 2000 team comprising the MSM and MMM political parties called a press conference in Port Louis on Saturday. They discussed several topics such as the municipal elections, the electoral reform, law and order and the state of the economy.

MMM leader Paul Bérenger stressed the fact that after PM Navin Ramgoolam’s statement that the municipal elections will be held before the end of this year, there can be no turning back for him now.

“We have already started preparations for this. A wind of change is coming to the municipalities while awaiting changes for the country,” he said.

Bérenger is also waiting to see whether the PM will let one member of his own crew tag him as a hypocrite.

“During a declaration, Ramgoolam stated that there is no need for a new ethnic census in Mauritius while the minister of Labour Shakeel Mohamed is of the opinion that those against a new census are hypocrites. Mohamed should have resigned,” he said.

While, remake 2000 leader Sir Anerood Jugnauth (SAJ) for his part asked the PM to resign. “The latest MCB focus has predicted growth of 3.1 per cent only this year. We think that it might be even less and inflation will be at least 5 per cent. When we were saying the economy is in a critical position, we were labelled doom watchers. Have they turned prophets of doom too, now that they are getting alarmed about the economy?” SAJ said.

“It is the population who will have to bear the cost of all this. If Ramgoolam really cares for the population and the welfare of this country and has some integrity left in him, he should call for the general elections at once and let capable hands take the reins,” he added.

Concerning the electoral reforms, Bérenger said that his new proposition comprised 60 elected deputies, 20 chosen by proportional representation and eight names suggested by the leaders of parties to replace the eight best loser seats.

“This is not perfect, but it is certainly a better option for more ethnic representation. I wish the proposition is approved unanimously by MSM and Labour Party ,” he said. He ahinted that there might be more than two parties in the Remake 2000 for next general elections.

He also deplored the current Hajj situation and the plight of the street vendors, which he attributed to the government’s inefficiency not to add the blunders of the Monkey farming and the build up of racial tension caused by this government with the amounts of corruption within its roots. No doubtingly tarnishing the once  good reputation of the island.

Mauritius is a Peaceful Island Why Must we Harbour Guns Navin Ramgoolam?

A very intriguing piece of news that hit the headlines recently. Was Mauritius going to be used as a hub for a vast project of arms trafficking from Iran, United Arab Emirates to reach countries such as Sudan, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Somalia and possibly Syria?
arms trafficking
The report of an American NGO, “Conflict Awareness Project”, revealed how Andrei Kosolapov and Sergei Denisenko ,two former associates of Victor Bout-one of the biggest arms dealers in the world  – planned to use Mauritius to supply arms to war zones.  The worst part is that the report cites Yousuf Mohamed and Zakir Mohamed, the father and brother of Shakeel Mohamed, the Minister of Labour, as the local partners.
Mauritius is indeed a strategic spot due to its location and it could very well serve as a gateway in the whole arms trafficking business between Africa, Asia and the Middle East. Mauritius Drug Consumption at it's Highest Politicians Involved

The ‘Gros Derek‘ case; one which is the talk of the town for weeks. Ever since the drug lord was arrested, the case continued to make headlines in every newspapers.
The investigation pertaining to this case took a major turn on Tuesday the 4th of September when the name of 3 politicians were found in the contact list of Ashish Dayal, one of the suspects who was arrested last month.  His phone book was continuously vetted by the IT unit of the police department, ever since his arrest. This is how the shocking revelations came to the front.
gros derek mauritius
Ashish Dayal will be confronted with these findings as well as his link with each of these politicians. What we curretly know is that the implicated politicians were candidates in the same urban constituency in the 2005 elections.
From the information gathered by the police, it seems that they were constantly in touch with Ashish Dayal. One of them is a woman who even exchanged SMS with the suspect. Has the mastermind, Rudolf Dereck Jean-Jacques (alias ‘Gros Derek’), financed the campaigns of these politicians?
This is a hypothesis being privileged by the investigators. It is believed that the statement of the mastermind himself will prove to be valuable for the progress of this case.
Ever since their involvement in ‘Gros Derek’s’ case was made public, our political figures were quick to react. In a statement to Radio Plus on Friday, the 7th of September 2012, the former president, Sir Anerood Jugnauth reiterated vehemently his call to the Mauritian authorities to inquire about drug trafficking.
According to him, the current happenings necessarily call for a commission of inquiry to be established to uncover drug traffickers and their accomplices.
The leader of the MSM-MMM alliance also asked for the names of the politicians quoted in the case of ‘Gros Derek’ to be disclosed as the public has the right to know the truth.
On the other side, in a conference organized in his constituency No. 11, Rose-Belle/ Vieux Grand-Port, on the same day, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Arvin Boolell highly criticized the former president and even challenged him to denounce the names of the politicians he claims to be involved in this case.
He also blamed the Mauritius Revenue Authority and the Financial Intelligence Unit for the lack of information in relation to the registration of the X5 which ‘Gros Derek’ possessed and the amount of money he spent on it.
Political involvement in the drugs trade is a recurring problem across the world. Power confers to politicians a feeling of supremacy, of, at times, being above the law and of being capable of either burying any scandalous act or perpetrating it with impunity.
Several such cases involving the partnership between drug dealers and politicians have been laid to rest in the past. Will the names of these politicians be disclosed this time? Will they be subject to interrogation by the police? As we are fully aware of Drug Consumption is at its worst with this current government.

Mauritians Will Face Further Exploitation by Relaxed Immigration Policies

Mauritius recently signed agreements to relax visa application rules for 75 countries, with 29 of them in Africa, the country's Foreign Minister Arvin Boolell said on Wednesday. The minister who was speaking during the opening of the 6th World Forum on Migration and Development (FMMD) in Port-Louis, said that the citizens of the concerned countries will either not need a visa to visit Mauritius or will obtain a visa upon arrival.  This agreement will mean less job opportunities for the ordinary Mauritian, considering those within lower social classes will be subject to further exploitation by those wealthy businessmen.

"The policy will lead to increased movement and interaction between our people and the African countries," Boolell explained though many would disagree.

He said that Mauritius has always considered migration as an integral part of its sustainable development policies.  Boolell may be referring to the IRS scheme here and because of such migration and developments the house prices within most of the holiday resorts, is unobtainable by the average hard working Mauritian family.

"The Mauritius island was formed by the movement of people from different parts of the world like China, India, Mozambique, Madagascar and France. We are a nation of emigrants and immigrants, "the minister recalled.  Boolell fails to recognize that Mauritians were brought to the island to work and work is what we have done, in order to prove economical stability, we do not want to be exploited by just giving it away.

Boolell further said that Mauritius was determined to mobilize the African partners under the FMMD framework to promote the emergency of a more stronger African position on issues of migration.

Navin Ramgoolam is not protecting the religious rights of Hindus

An animal rights group has published pictures and video of hundreds of monkeys the group says were killed by a primate breeding farm on the island nation of Mauritius. This potentially indicates that the Mauritius Government are ignoring international protests and ultimately giving the Island of Mauritius a barbaric image.  There has been reports that these monkeys have even been captured in the sacred Grand Bassin, it could be said that Navin Ramgoolam is not  protecting the rights of Hindus on the Island. With Diwali approaching this will cause friction between Hindus and the elected Government.

• Noveprim reacts

The animal rights group BUAV said the monkeys are being bred for sale to laboratories in the U.S. and Europe. The group says the monkeys were killed because they had grown too big to sell.

BUAV says the killings took place at a lab called Noveprim. Noveprim didn't answer a call or an email seeking comment.

The group's Sarah Kite called the killings a cruel and senseless slaughter. She says the monkeys should have been released.

BUAV says Mauritius exports up to 10,000 monkeys a year to laboratories.

Noveprim reacts

Noveprim is presently subject to a smear campaign from a group of "Animal Activists". Noveprim strongly condemns the misusage, abusive and false interpretation by these activists of images circulating on the net.

Extremists are trying once more to manipulate the public opinion by interpreting images of dead monkeys stored in a room, implying that these monkeys have been mutilated and euthanized for trivial and cruel reasons.

At Noveprim, the welfare of animals is a top priority and will always be. Abuse of monkeys in its breeding units is not tolerated.

Indeed, Noveprim has for mission to preserve the health of the animals and that of its employees. In a situation where disease occurrence is suspected and in line with strict animal health surveillance protocols, a number of animals could undergo euthanasia, necropsy and incineration. Such practice prevents spread of a disease and protects the population of the breeding center. These practices are accepted internationally and carried out on every species of animal as witnessed in epidemic situation such as mad cow disease, swine fever, foot and mouth disease, avian influenza, etc...

In the past, Noveprim has had case of bovine Tb and had thus been forced to take the necessary sanitary measures that could explain the existence of such images.

As further information, it is important to know that:
  1. The release of monkeys in the wild is strictly prohibited in Mauritius.
  2. Noveprim has adopted a strategy of adjusting its production capacity by applying the following measures:
  • Stopping the capture of monkeys since 2008.
  • Selling 100% of its stakes in two of its holding and breeding units.
  • Killing of Animals is strictly against Hindu practice
